Dimensions variable. Found objects, branches, plastic trophies, epoxy.

This work is a playful extension of my exploration of the creative process and how failure is a necessary part of creativity. The trophy finches are perched, waiting to see what unfolds in the artmaking process. The works is a reminder to artists and audiences that our disbelief, or rather, doubt, worry, internal criticism must be kept at bay in the early stages of making in order to for our creative expressions to be fully realized.

The suitcases containing wax pigeons and a growing shrub, are one of the ‘rooms’ of the MUSEUM (2002-.) Each ‘room’ of the MUSEUM has been made in a suitcase, so that the MUSEUM is portable. In this room, called the “Still Room”, from the Ornithological Section of the MUSEUM the pigeons lie still on a bed of ground cover: funerary feeling, but inescapably about growth, change, and new possibilities when old ideas are put to rest.
